German Shepherd

The German Shepherd is extremely faithful to his owner and to his family, for which he will devote himself until his last breath. He is playful, and therefore can easily become a very good friend for the children when he is raised with the latter. Nevertheless, the energy that he deploys while playing is not always suitable for very young children, since he could trip them up with his enthusiasm. Highly active, a German Shepherd needs lots of outdoor exercise. Also, he is an excellent watchdog.
The owner of a German Shepherd should really pay attention to his period of socialisation, when it is a young puppy. He has therefore to bring it everywhere he goes when it is possible, to show the puppy different kinds of people (of all ages), of places, of situations and to hear diversified noises. That will help the puppy become a stable, sure adult and very sociable towards the people and the animals of all kinds.
The German Shepherd excels in obedience, in agility and in all work that his owner asks him to accomplish. He has a remarkable intelligence and is a very sensitive being. It is strongly recommended to take obedience courses with your German Shepherd. This will ensure a good relationship between both of you and will satisfy the dog's need to work and to please his owner. The dog will be much happier and develop into an incomparable friend.
